Bio-Familiar Hormone Replacement Therapy
Our process for setting up a consultation is essentially the same for both men and women with some minor exceptions. Both men and women need to have lab work done prior to their office visit. It typically takes about 3-4 working days for us to get your lab results.
Once we have put your information into the system, you can have your labs drawn at our office without an appointment. The lab hours are M-F 9-4 (no labs drawn from 12-1). Note: if you have no insurance or a high deductible (up to $1000 or more), and have not met that deductible, please ask our staff about getting labs drawn through New Life Physicians.
Note:
Men - can get their labs drawn at anytime in the morning after fasting for at least 8 hours. Since men require so much more testosterone, we check more labs than on women. If you are currently using any testosterone supplementation, you should continue to use it. If you are placing creams on your forearm, be sure not to apply any cream on the morning of your blood draw.
Women - If women have had a hysterectomy or are no longer menstruating, they can get lab work drawn at any time. Women who are still menstruating need to get their labs checked between days 17-21 of your cycle. The first day women start their menses is day one of their cycle. To determine when the blood work should be done, start counting the first day of full bleeding and days 17-21 is called the Luteal phase of your cycle. It is during the luteal phase in which you will have your labs checked. If your cycle is very irregular, you will need to do your best to figure out what might be the middle of your cycle. We realize that some women’s cycles are more unpredictable than others and you just have to “guess your best” in that situation.
When you call to make an appointment and still have questions about when to get your blood work drawn, we will help you figure that out. We will then schedule you to come in for a consultation when we feel confident that we will have your blood work available. It is important to evaluate your medical history, symptoms, and lab work together.
Consultations for Hormone Replacement Therapy on average take a half an hour. We go over your medical and prescription history. Please bring a list of the prescriptions you are currently taking.
New Life Physicians is out-of-network to all insurance companies. Since all insurance companies and individual plans vary, you can call your insurance company with the general codes we use for diagnosis in our office to find out what your insurance company will reimburse for your particular plan. The consultation and any treatment given must be paid for at the time of service. Our office staff will give you a copy of your superbill that you can send into your insurance company for reimbursement.
